8:11 am - Not my blog
I'm coming to realize just how many of my Livejournal friends don't know about my actual blog! My livejournal is just for art posts and fandom stuff. All else can be found at Cult of Lincoln, syndicated for LJ at [info]abeybaby. So now you know!

5:51 pm - Oh look! A me!
Greetings, all! For the time being, I intend to stick with my blog and LJ and just use this journal for its Friends feature.

Shiny.

9:22 pm - Photos From the Potterdammerung!
I come bearing photos from the Union Square Book 7 release party! I put them behind a cut as not to kill your layouts. The accompanying text is completely SPOILER-FREE, and I ask that any comments you leave be spoiler-free as well. If you're on a slow connection and would rather view the images separately, they're in here. Mega-love to [info]pockyslash for taking a bunch of the photos of me in costume and for introducing me to a nearby restaurant with DELICIOUS green tea ice cream!

11:44 am - My Deathly Hallows Predictions And How They Panned Out
Hey, kids! It's time for Professor Trelawney's Prediction Time!

Going into book 5, I had a bizarre conviction that Sirius would die.

Going into book 6, my fondness for Joseph Campbell gave me the certainty that Dumbledore would snuff it.

Behind the cut are my predictions for the seventh book, and what really happened! Spoilers abound, obviously.

Clicky! )

And because I'm a dork and like to consolidate LJ entries, here are my responses to the Deathly Hallows MP3 Fortunetelling Meme, ganked from Heidi's journal. Cut for spoilers! )

7:39 pm - Attention!
NEW YORKERS!

Where are you guys going for the midnight release of Harry Potter 7? I know Jim Dale will be at the Barnes and Noble in Union Square, and that's only a couple blocks from my apartment...

1:48 am - Dresden Files ficspam!
I just realized I never posted my other Dresden fics here, so I'll do that now:

Quietus (PG) -- Everything comes to an end eventually. Harry/Murphy, in about 45 years. (spoilers through Proven Guilty)

Where's My Daddy? (G) -- This is a story about reading a book about reading a book, which turns into a different book. But it all ends happily! Inspired by Terry Pratchett. Pure fluff, written to compensate for the darkness of "Quietus" and "Cold Comfort." (spoilers through Proven Guilty)

Then there's Shiver Me Timbers (R) -- "This [The Boone Identity] couldn't be more shippy if Harry was Captain of the Spanish main and Murphy was a pirate queen." ... And thus, collaborative AU Pirate-themed Harry/Murphy cracksmut was born. No, I don't know what the hell we were on either. (spoilers through Blood Rites)

For completion's sake, I previously posted the following in this journal:

Cold Comfort (NC-17) -- The favourite of my fics! Harry Dresden looks for comfort after the death of a loved one. Daaaark. (spoilers through Proven Guilty)

Fifty Sentences for Molly and Carlos -- a writing experiment with one of those "fifty words" prompt tables. (spoilers through White Night)

8:34 pm - Fic: Fifty Sentences for Molly and Carlos
Title: Fifty Sentences for Molly and Carlos
Author: Priscellie
Rating: PG
Fandom: Dresden Files bookverse, as Molly and Carlos don’t even exist in the TV-verse. You TV-only folks don't know what you're missing! :D
Spoilers: Through White Night.
Word Count: 1,425
Disclaimer: Molly Carpenter, Carlos Ramirez, and all other assorted characters belong to Jim Butcher. Let's hope he has as much fun with their sparkage in future books as we're having with them in the interim!

Author’s Note: I took a somewhat unorthodox approach to the whole "fifty sentences" prompt thing. I jumbled up the order of the words and made the story into a single, coherent whole, rather than having the sentences be in the more traditional, disjoint format. I don't really feel this fic is as successful as my previous stories, but I still feel it was a useful exercise. Hope you guys enjoy it anyway!

Love as always to [info]tigerkat24, my magnificent, prolific, and inspirational beta! Love also to Terry and Choco for participating in my "write me deathless Molly/Carlos and I will send you actual brownies" fanfiction challenge.

7:27 pm - Veiling Lessons -- contains mild White Night spoilers
The first thing I did upon finishing my undergraduate coursework was head straight to Photoshop and CG a drawing of Molly Carpenter and Carlos Ramirez I did weeks ago.

New fanart, woohoo!

VERY MINOR, ALMOST NONEXISTENT SPOILERS FOR WHITE NIGHT. Especially as the scene depicted is from my twisted shipper's imagination and does not actually occur in the book!

7:10 am - Cold Comfort
So I uh, wrote fic. For the first time in six years. *hides*

Title: Cold Comfort
Author: Priscellie
Rating: *coughNC-17cough*
Fandom: Dresden Files
Spoilers: Through Proven Guilty. Plus, dude, if you haven’t read all the canon books yet, why are you wasting your time reading fanfic? Come back after you’ve read up on your Dresden.
Summary: Harry looks for comfort after the death of a loved one. Daaaark.
Disclaimer: Jim is the Great Creator and Owner of All Characters. It’s a credit to him how much fun I have dabbling in his world!
Word Count: 4160
Author’s Note: This is book-verse, not TV-verse. First person to comment saying “OMG UR STOOPID, CONNIE IS A BRUNET!” gets eaten by weasels.

1:15 am - NY Comic Con Post--FINALLY!
Hey, kids! It's time for the promised MASSIVE NEW YORK COMIC CON post of doom and awesomeness!

Friday! )

Saturday! )

Sunday! )

So in sum:

JIMMY IS AWESOME for too many reasons to count, though motivating me to go to the con in the first place is a big one. Joe is wonderful for putting me up for the weekend, so I didn't have to fork over massive gobs of cash for a hotel room. My fellow PA Shindiggers are made of love, and I hope I get the chance to see you guys before my inevitable move to the West coast. The various people that hit on me because of my wig and fake piercings (I'm looking at you, Fat Jedi that told me to call him "Demos" and hung out by the CNI booth for like an hour) have done wonders for my self-esteem and therefore deserve delicious pie. Jimmy and Joe deserve an extra slice of pie for mentioning me and my costume in the Con wrapup episode of the podcast (Episode 78, 22 minutes in). Made my day, guys!

Yay New York Comic Con! Now go listen to Comic News Insider. You know you want to.

1:18 am - Demo Reel, plus the return of Animated Bob!
Today I spent 12 1/2 hours in the computer lab, working on my demo reel, broken only by a ten-minute trip across the street to grab a salad at Cosi at 9:30. I am hardcore!

Check it out here! 55mb mov.

Those that are lazy or on slow connections can check out the updated, rendered version of the Bob animation I did last summer. Just 2.9mb mov! It also appears on my demo reel, at higher resolution. It was a lot of fun to make, though Terrence Mann could kick it's pixellated bu-- er... temporal fossa? :D Fellow fans, note that I don't actually think Bob floats. I just wanted to experiment with lip-sync (jaw sync?), and artistic license took over like a mutant lizard rampaging Tokyo. Now he just needs some Playboys! I didn't feel they were appropriate for a demo reel I was sending to Disney, among other wholesome places.

Now give me comment-love!

6:03 am - That Which We Most Loathe, A Professional Writer
Those that read my blog may recall that I got to see John Hodgman, Jonathan Coulton, David Rees, and Amy Sedaris at the 215 Festival on October 5th. I brought along a tape recorder, but I forgot to throw the new batteries I bought in the bag, so I wasn't able to record the whole thing. I was worried nothing would record at all. To my great glee, the entire 30 minute Hodgman/Coulton presentation recorded, though the dying batteries cut out eight minutes into David Rees. I finally digitized the tape, and I will now share it with you for your listening pleasure. Huzzah!

Listen to:The Philadelphia 215 Festival is love. Also Audacity. And Duracell.

My entry about the event is here, plus photos and assorted merriments here.

10:33 am - The Jawas
My latest fanart exploit, breaking my previous record for "number of characters drawn in one scene" by a considerable margin! It's a scene from Proven Guilty, the most recent novel of Jim Butcher's Dresden Files series: the night after the attack on Arctis Tor, where all the Carpenter kidlets are reunited at Saint Mary of the Angels with a collective sigh of relief. Because I felt bad that Michael wasn't in the scene, I included a sculpture of Saint Michael righteously pwning a demon with his flaming sword. W00t!

5:38 pm - Badger badger badger...

I posted some new photographs I took the other day of mushrooms growing in our front yard. But alas, the Great Lawn Mower comes for us all.

Let me know what you think! I'm quite pleased with them.

9:51 pm - What About Bob?
EDIT: I've revised and rendered out the skull animation!
Download it here!

For the past week, I've been hard at work modeling a skull in Maya. It does double duty in my fandoms: give it blue eye lights and it's on its way to being Discworld's Death, or give it orange eye lights and it's Bob the skull from The Dresden Files. It's not finished by a long shot, but it's in a state where I wouldn't mind showing it off. Click the thumbnail for the full-size image!

Then this afternoon I decided to use Bob to teach myself how to lip-sync on something that has no lips.

Check it out here!

It's just 4mb. You'll probably want to rightclick+save to your hard drive, as I've found that trying to view the file directly tends to clip the first second or so. Audio is the panties-melting voice of James Marsters from the Storm Front audio book, brought to us by the lovely ladies at Buzzy Multimedia.

Ignore the little orange balls! I don't have the resources at home to render out the entire clip properly, and in this low-tech version, the little balls represent where the eye lights will be. Refer to the rendered still to see what it looks like in the alternate universe where I'm willing to fork over 600 bucks for Adobe AfterEffects.

10:05 am - Demo reel!
My demo reel! Minus all my personal information, of course. :D 43.7mb, sorry I couldn't get it any smaller!

I'll post some shots of my completed male and female figure models when I get home Tuesday night.

7:26 am - Female figure model
My female model! It was kind of embarassing how much more developed my model was than those of the rest of the class at Monday's critique. :D I still have quite a bit of work to do, especially after noticing that the ratio of her upper arm to her forearm does not even resemble human proportions.
